Statement
Here I have drawn a still life of a conch shell because I found the form to be very irregular and challenging. In Addition, I also wanted to explore the different surface areas of the shell. Due to the irregularity of the shell’s form and shape, it also gave me the perfect opportunity to practice working with values and proportion. The shell itself has both rough and smooth surfaces: the top part has a rougher type of texture, and this can be seen from the scratches and different protrusions of the shell, which end at dull points. The bottom part was much smoother and glossier, so it really played with shadows and highlights.
