Statement
I decided to seek inspiration from my own history, my own family, and ended up being inspired for this series by my grandparents, who immigrated to America almost 60 years ago. 

While seeking inspiration for this series, I began researching, looking through old photos and creating artworks inspired by the Philippines, its history, its culture, out of my own curiosity to learn more about where my family comes from. I chose to practice a more illustrative style, but combining my love for bold color with some watercolor in the background. After following my inspiration, I realized that I did not make it just for myself, but because I loved seeing how excited my grandmother gets when I make an artwork that reminds her of home.
