Statement
This piece is a reflection of what it means to be passionate about your work. As an artist, I put my whole self into what I create and put my work out into the world knowing that no audience will feel the way I felt about the piece during the creation process. The figure in this painting is holding her heart in her hand, and is content doing so. The heart and red monochromatic color scheme expresses passion. The figure’s relaxed stature signifies that she acknowledges that this is part of her greater purpose. The blackness and stars within the hole of her chest illustrates that without having that passion, there is nothing left. An artist’s purpose is to create and share art whether or not the meaning behind a piece is received by its audience.
