Statement
From Aswang to Zombie: The ABCs of Folklore and Legends

My Art Thesis project actually started in the Graphic Design II class that I had taken a while back. The main goal of this project back then was to choose a word and create an abc book just using these specific letters. However, I immediately knew I wanted to do the entire alphabet even though I would not have the time to finish it all in that specific time period, so this was the perfect opportunity to finish the rest of the alphabet.

The main idea of my project has stayed the same, although the method changed a tiny bit. Before I had been using adobe illustrator, but I have changed to photoshop, so it took some revamping of the other letters I had already done. The main idea of this project has come from my interest in the cryptids. Since I was little, I loved to watch things with bigfoot in them. Starting with Henry and the Harrisons and eventually watching bigfoot hunting type shows even though most of them were kind of ridiculous. Then I started watching other shows and movies like cheaply made chiller movies and paranormal sightings. So, I wanted to take the time to really explore these creatures and their origins and do my own take on what they could look like. I have taken a look at creatures from folklore and legends from around the world rather then focusing on one may region or area.
