Statement
First Time is a frame by frame animation dedicated to represent my interpretation of the song First Time (Acoustic) by electric dance music (EDM) artists: Seven Lions and SLANDER, featuring vocalist Dylan Matthews. This animation is meant to be a lyric video reflecting the first four lines of the song; Dylan Matthews opens the scene as he plays the piano, and it fades into the lyrics: “In the darkness all I see is you,” which sets the style of the rest of the animation. Glowing white lines contrast against a black background to elicit a deep and solemn feeling. The story pays tribute to someone who is so loved and who has had such a powerful impact that it feels like they are falling for them [all over again] for the first time.
