Statement
This painting is based on a photo I took of the Pu’u Kukui Mountain in Maui. I painted it in Georgia O’Keeffe’s style which often has lots of colors and is very blended with a gradient. This is the first painting of a series I am working on where I paint photos that I have taken and paint them in the style of women painters, who have been extremely overlooked as painters. The purpose of this series is to give recognition to women painters and show how much variety there is in their work.
