Having never explored drawing, I didn’t have many expectations when drawing this portrait of a friend. I worked from a photograph that I had taken previously. When beginning this piece I focused on boxing in the shapes and shadows. After outlining the main shapes I was able to add finer detailing. This piece represents a growth in my ability of drawing and an openness to the vulnerability that comes along with trying something new.
